Games Workshop has officially banned the use of AI-generated content in their prestigious Golden Demon miniature painting contest. The decision comes after a controversy surrounding a winning entry at the March 2024 Golden Demon event, where the backdrop of a winning Warhammer 40k model was found to be AI-generated. Fans debated the role of AI in art and the ethics surrounding it. To prevent future issues, Games Workshop has updated its rules, prohibiting AI tools in all future Golden Demon contests. This policy will be in effect at upcoming events, including the October 2024 tournament at SPIEL Essen in Germany.

Amazon has announced a new Warhammer 40,000 animated anthology series titled Secret Level, produced by Blur Studio, the team behind Love, Death & Robots. Set to release on Prime Video on December 10, the series will include an episode based on the upcoming Warhammer 40k videogame Space Marine 2. While the new series is not linked to the Warhammer 40k film and TV projects involving Henry Cavill, fans can expect plenty of grimdark action in this anthology that spans multiple video game franchises. The animation represents another expansion of the Warhammer universe, appealing to both Warhammer enthusiasts and video game fans alike.

Pizza Games is running a Kickstarter campaign for a dark fantasy tabletop RPG called “On the Odder Side,” inspired by Neil Gaiman’s novel Neverwhere.The game uses the “Mark of the Odd” system and draws inspiration from Into the Odd, featuring a realm with bizarre horrors and Victorian aesthetics. Set in the city of Carcosa, players navigate the “shadow side” after crossing an invisible boundary, facing mysterious laws and faerie tale-like intricacies.

The game draws inspiration from Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, and Lewis Carroll, catering to both Old School Revival and narrative-driven RPG fans. The campaign has been successful, surpassing its initial goal, with stretch goals including additional rulebooks and content.

DDRPG by Reaper Miniatures is a tabletop RPG where players seek fortune and glory in a perilous fantasy world. Designed for 3-6 participants, with one as the Gamemaster controlling the game world and others as Players with characters. The game emphasizes intuitive, consistent gameplay, blending elements of Old School Renaissance and modern mechanics.

Features four core classes, four core folk, six ability scores, and a d20-based resolution system for challenges and combat. The Kickstarter campaign offers various pledge options, including digital and physical editions, miniatures, and additional accessories.

Steve Jackson Games is releasing “Pathfinder Revolution,” a crossover of the strategy board game Revolution! with the Pathfinder RPG. The game involves three to six players vying for control of factions within the city of Korvosa, integrating elements from the original game and its expansions. Players use tactics like blackmail, bribery, and statecraft to gain control of factions, with a hidden war in the fantasy realm of Golarion. The game combines social deduction, resource management, and double-bluffing, and it will be available in local game stores and retail outlets.

YouTube is implementing new policies for AI-generated content, requiring creators to disclose when they upload realistic synthetic content using AI tools. Creators who fail to disclose such information may face content removal, suspension from the YouTube Partner Program, or other penalties. YouTube will label AI-generated content in descriptions and prominently in the video player, especially for content discussing sensitive topics. Users will be able to request the removal of AI-generated content simulating identifiable individuals or their voices through YouTube’s privacy request process. Music partners can request the removal of AI-generated music content mimicking artists’ voices, considering factors like news reporting or critique of synthetic vocals.
