Embracer Group just paid $2 billion for Asmodee and now has Dark Horse Comics in its grasp. Quite diverse properties for a video game company. Steve Jackson Games has a fun Kickstarter running for a set of STLs of their famous monsters from their Fantasy Trip setting. You can also add many of their previous Fantasy Trip books and accessories to your pledge. Unfortunately, shipping is only available in the US. Games Workshop has reversed themselves on Cursed City. The next iteration of Warhammer Quest will be available again after selling out immediately with no hope of restocking. They have also announced expansions for the game coming next year. So what happened? And finally, just in time for the new year, a conversion and revelation that will make us all better Warhammer customers.

They are targeted at beginners, but will they cannibalize their pre-painted offerings? Unearthed Arcana is now officially off D&D Beyond. This previously served to circulate playtest materials, but it may have created more controversy for WotC than it was worth. Finally, we discuss the odd offering that is Warhammer+ It is a costly venture that Games Workshop has zero experience in doing well. Their previous apps and video content would not command a subscription price. So what is the motive? Leaving physical products to license an IP or making yourself appealing to Hasbro for sale? Finally, comicbook publisher, Magnetic Press, is getting into game publishing. They are planning releases to support their comics series, starting with Carbon Grey. Reign in Hell is fast, brutal demonic themed tabletop wargame by Adam Loper and Vince Venturella at Snarling Badger Games. Similar to Warcry and Kill Team even down to using the same size playmats. Both games are minitures agnostic rulesets to play with miniatures and terrain you probably already have. And finally the Star Wars sequel trilogy is sited as an example in a current legal decision, proving the with legal precedence those films do suck.

The Weekly LIVE 090 – Warhammer Plus Announced, Netflix Wants to Make Games and Hybrid GenCon 2021

Games Workshop announced the platform for their eleven animated series. Warhammer Plus. No further details given until next month, neither price nor additional content. Netflix is actively looking into developing games and has approached veteran game designs. After the failure of Amazon, owner of Twitch, to become a game developer, it doesn’t make much sense. Finally, Asmodee and Paizo announced they will not attend the physical event in Indianapolis, but will provide virtual supports with online gaming sessions and Livestreams. There will also be PopUp GenCon support at local game stores.

In the lawsuit between Apple and Epic the Itch.io app for PC that is accessible on the Epic Store was used to attack Epic and the Unspeakable Games that can be downloaded. Games Workshop still thinks a pandemic is a good time to release a new version of their tabletop wargames. Following last years 9th edition of Warhammer 40k, they announced the 3rd edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar at their online Warhammer Fest. In other Games Workshop news they appear to be abandoning Japan and we have the evidence. Will the physical stores remain? What will happen to all the translation and localization? And finally, a product of the lockdowns and the desire to game in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Old World has led to the discovery of a great community of Warmaster gaming.
