A classic roleplaying game returns. The new retro-apocalypotic edition of Twilight: 2000, published in partnership with Game Designers’ Workshop, goes back to the roots of the franchise with a boxed set for sandbox roleplaying in the devastation of World War III. The new edition will be the fourth in the series, the first being released by GDW in 1984. Just like the original version, the new edition is set in a year 2000 devastated by war – now in an alternate timeline where the Moscow Coup of 1991 succeeded and the Soviet Union never collapsed.

The original first version of Twilight 2000 is on sale at DriveThruRPG as part of their Post-Apocalyptic sale. Also, Posthuman Studios is discounting a of their premium color print on demand books for the rest of June. Warhammer World restricts the use of Third-party and 3D printed conversions of their miniatures for events. And finally, there will be a Lord of the Rings anime directed by Kenji Kamiyama, titled The War of the Rohirrim.

The Weekly 062: Twilight 2000, Green Ronin’s Sword Chronicle, Thousand Suns RPG, Visigoths vs. Mall Goths and DTRPG medals

Free League is developing a new version of Twilight 2000 that was funded on Kickstarter. It will be a boxed set and was developed in collaboration with Game Designer’s Workshop. The Chronicle system that powered Green Ronin’s A Song of Ice and Fire RPG will now be available as a setting neutral ruleset called Sword Chronicle. There were some minor to armor and intrigue, but it will play very similar to the first incarnation. Thousand Suns RPG by Grognardia Games and designed by James Maliszewski is worth a look if you are looking for a scfi system that was inspired by the “imperial” science fiction of the 1950s and 60s. It uses a 2d12 system called the 12 Degree system. Chris will play in a session of Visigoths vs. Mall Goths by Lucius Kahn @oh_theogony. Plus a quick explanation of what the medals awarded to DriveThru RPG sellers mean.
